Xueh Magrini Troll is a Berlin based Colombian artist. She holds a degree from Academia Superior de Artes de Bogota, Universidad Nacional in Colombia and Escuela de Arte 10/ Madrid,Spain. Currently she is studying visual communication at Kunsthochschule Berlin Weißensee in Berlin, Germany.

I am the third generation of women artists in my family, after my grandmother and my mother. Drawing and painting have always been around me, like eating, walking, talking. For me it is something familiar, a natural part of my daily life. Drawing is home to me. In my drawings I comment about life, about things that I see, things that happened to and around me. I get inspired by the things that I like about this world, by the things that I hate as well. Drawing is the space that I found, where I can reflect on the reason for my existence, or why should I shave my legs, and everything in between.

Tripolar

The biggest wall I have ever painted , was waiting for me in Rijeka. The physicality of painting in such a big scale , where the relationship between the drawing and the body changes so drastically compared to smaller surfaces, was a really interesting experience for me.

Tripolar is the title of my work, and is a three headed portrait of myself. We are all complex beings, and many times behind our good and normal looking appearances, dark and deep thoughts are being cooked. Or while enjoying the sun on the beach in a normal summer day, the existential fears come visit us. I tried to imagine how would I look on one of those happy, dark and crazy days.

Residential program of  Gallery SKC is an artistic research stay of young authors and students from the fields of visual, new media, performing, musical, literature and theoretical artistic practice. Artists receive support in the form of working space, materials and technical support.

SKC (Student cultural centre) Gallery is located in OKC Palach and led by students from the University of Rijeka. Gallery’s programme covers topics during a three-month period in which a certain problem is discussed and mapped. Except exhibitions, the gallery has a goal to experiment with other forms (lectures, workshops, public debates, screenings, etc.). For every three-month period a hybrid catalogue – magazine is published. By its nature, it’s opened for various collaborations with production partners, civil associations and institutions. Part of the programme is left for other student projects and guest exhibitions. The primary goal of the gallery is to offer a cultural programme in which the users will actively take part in its creation, to open space for critical dialogue and develop a quality cultural platform.
