Stanislava Nikolić Aras
Stanislava Nikolić Aras was born in 1972 in Trogir. She writes poems, stories, essays, reflections, reminiscences, newspaper articles, critiques and reviews of literary works. She is the artistic director of Teatro Verrdi Arts Organization which deals with production and organization of art projects in the field of performing arts. She is the author of the script for the puppet show Ecology and Society, performed in Zadar Puppet Theater. She is one of the founders and organizers of the Festival of Literature Kalibar and a member of Zapis, the Association of Writers from Zadar, through which she organized and moderated series of literary and hosting events. She has been running creative writing workshops in Zadar and other cities since 2007.
She is a first place winner for the following stories: Matica Hrvatska in Vrgorac, the award Mate Raos 2012. for the story „Neron“; the international short story festival Odakle zovem, Podgorica, the award Vranac, 2013. for the story „Srebrni zmaj“; the international short story festival Odakle zovem, Podgorica, the award Vranac, 2014. for the story „Gutanje“; the collection of poems „Takve se stvari događaju ljudima“, Algoritam, Zagreb 2014., editor Kruno Lokotar; the collection of short poems „Meke granice“, Algoritam, Zagreb 2016, editor Kruno Lokotar; the collection of poems „Nedolično i vrijedno spomena“, Durieux 2016, editor Ivana Rogar (in the process of publishing). All stories were published with the support of Ministry of Culture of the Republic of Croatia.
Her stories were published in a joint collection of the Centre for Peace Studies in 2014 and 2015 and in the joint collection of Lapis Histriae, Forum Tomizza. Her poems and stories were published in the following magazines: Quorum, Forum, Zadarska smotra, Tema, Fantom slobode. She regulary publishes her essays and reviews of literary works on Najbolje knjige.com portal and she publishes her essayistic writings and prose on the Third Programme of Croatian Radio (HRT). She won the scholarship for the residency House for Writers in Pazin, 2016. As a writer, she participated in the Festival of the European Short Story in Zagreb and Osijek; as part of the Center for Peace Studies team in Osijek; at Kvirinovi dani organized by Matica hrvatska in Sisak; as a guest writer in Pula, Zagreb, Varaždin, Mostar, Šibenik, Zadar, Novi Sad and Rijeka.
She worked with translator and poet Vojo Šindolić a sn an editor and associate on the following books: „Dharma wandering“, Jack Kerouac; „Dust in the wind“, Gary Snyder; „Landscapes of the living and the dead“, Lawrence Ferlingheti; a selection of short stories by Haruki Murakami; Anthology of Chinese poetry.
Stanislava Nikolić Aras lives and works in Zadar and Dubrovnik.
