Springback Ringside
Dance network Aerowaves developed Springback Ringside, a project that records dance performances in VR technique and screens them in a relaxed, more intimate environment to smaller groups of spectators via VR goggles. In this way, each spectator always gets the best place in the audience and can experience the performance completely, sitting almost within reach of the performer.
Each VR screening is followed by Springback Q&A – Zoom conversation with artists which allows the audience to further expand their experience.
The project was supported by Perform Europe, an EU-funded project aimed to rethink how performing arts works are presented across borders in a more inclusive, sustainable and balanced way by testing new touring and distribution practices and providing policy recommendations for a future EU support scheme.
Virtual (living) room [Simona Deaconescu]
Kadri Sirel, a charismatic dancer of Estonian origin, and Zelda, a fictional character conceived as a fictional artificial intelligence have designed a mind-map of their own. Together, Kadri and Zelda try to solve the mystery behind the process of remembering a choreography spontaneously created, but never properly presented. Built with irony and relaxation, the relationship between the two is dynamic and uncertain. The presence of the public raises questions about how a performance should be viewed and what is the role of each participant in this exchange of information and emotions.
