Sara Grgurić

Sara Grgurić was born in 1998 in Rijeka and lives and works in Zagreb as a director and assistant director. She earned her BA in Film and Television Directing and an MA in Fiction Directing at the Academy of Dramatic Art in Zagreb. She is an alumna of the Talents Sarajevo program at the Sarajevo Film Festival (2024), Talent Academy at the Linz International Film Festival (2022), and Talent Camp at The Next Film Festival (2018). 

 Her films have received various accolades, with particular recognition for In “the Woods”, her BA graduation film, which was selected for Vimeo Staff Picks 2023. The film won the NEST Award for Best Student Film at the San Sebastián International Film Festival (2021), the Golden Pram for Best Croatian Short Film at the Zagreb Film Festival (2020), and the "Jelena Rajković" Award for Best Young Croatian Director at the Croatian Film Days (2021), awarded by the Croatian Film Directors' Guild.  She also works as an assistant director on film and TV projects, including “The Man Who Could Not Stay Silent” by Nebojša Slijepčević. 

In addition to the artist, members of the film crew will stay in the apartment.

Čvorak

Sara Grgurić is currently working on her independently initiated short fiction film “Čvorak”, supported by the Kamov Residency, DeltaLab, City of Rijeka, and Rijeka Tourist Board. The project brings together a young creative team, many of whom have roots or are actively working in the Primorje-Gorski kotar County. This includes cinematographer Matej Subotić, camera operator Mara Prpić, actress Nika Grbelja, along with Dorotea Ilečić Sever, Andrija Žunac, Anja Jogunica, Kristian Bonačić, Lidija Penić Grgaš, and many others, with Maja Ogrizović producing through Hej! 

She is currently in pre-production for a short fiction film exploring coming-of-age themes through the tradition of the zvončari (bell-ringers). Additionally, she has received HAVC funding for the development of a feature film screenplay examining the relationship between the individual and the community in a small town, through the lens of carnival traditions and zvončari.

Hej!

Hej! was founded in Rijeka in 2020 and, alongside production, is actively working on making cultural practices and society as a whole more inclusive. Some of its key projects include Film for Everyone, Culture for Everyone, Theatre for Everyone, Books for Everyone, and Horticulture by Silva Ćapina (Eclectica).
