  Robert Hammerstiel (born 18 February 1933 in Vršac, Yugoslavia) is an Austrian painter and engraver. Hammerstiel is internationally recognized through numerous awards. He is also a Honorary member of the Vojvodinian Academy of Sciences and Art. He is the author of "Von Ikonen und Ratten: Eine Banater Kindheit 1939 - 1949. With 32 woodcuts. Brandstaetter: Vienna, 1999; und illustrater of several books including "Des Bischofs Kleid" by Luisa Owens (2013).

  Through this residential programme, that includes the exhibition of the author, the Museum continues a very successful programme of regional museum cooperation with. Furthermore, thorough his work the author will give a specific interpretation of Rijeka's indentity.

  Rijeka City Museum was established by the decision of the City Council of the City of Rijeka on 11th of April 1994., thus renaming the former Museum of the National Revolution. It is located in a park of the  Maritime and history museum of the Croatian littoral (so-called "Governor's Palace"), and its building dates since 1976. (architect Neven Šegvić). In the past twenty years it collected, studied and restored objects significant for the City's history. It also organized notable exhibitions and published a comprehensive editions with the themes of the city's history (Rijeka bridges, garden heritage, manufacture and industry, The Port of Rijeka, construction, traffic ....). One aspect of the museum work is dedicated to notable citizens of Rijeka -  who contributed to the City in various fields: in architecture (Igor Emili), photography (Viktor Hreljanović), painting (Richard Zic), etc.
