Kamov residency programme in 2016 begins with Polygon collective hosted by Giulia Carrabelli (I/GB), and Branka Cvjetičanin (HR), with number of other Polygon associates and guests, in the period from January 1st to 31st, 2016.

"Beside the fact we consider Rijeka as dramatic and futuristic city-scape which hardly can be found in Croatia and/or Mediterranean region, the real reason why we have chosen Rijeka for the collective residency is the connection with amaizing people and friends we met through years and who gave us inside view into vibrant and emancipated Rijeka's artistic and cultural scene. We are honored to be residents at KAMOV.

Also, we consider art as an  avant-guard of some new social and/or scientific inovation, which directly, in critical and subversive way influancing social plastic and formating perception by "writing" it directly in the "code" of society narratives. Branka Cvjetičanin, artist, founder and artistic director of the Polygon – Center for Cultural Research and Project Development. Born in 1969 Zagreb (Croatia), she was educated in different forms of performing arts, mastering site-specific theatre direction, installation art in situ and production (MAPA – Academy for Performing Arts Amsterdam, internship Oreo Fes¬tival, etc.), and gained PhD at the Bauhaus Kollege Dessau 2005/06. Beside her independent artistic work, she made numoreus collaborations, in Croatia and internationaly, and occasionally she is produc¬ing work of other artists or different cultural projects and programms. Cvjeticanin is a member of the Croatian Association of professional artists – HZSU, Croatian Association of Artists of Applied Arts – ULUPUH, Oracle – network of Euro¬pean Arts Managers, and International Culturelink network.

Polygon art-research residency content is divided into two thematic working paths, together with the parallel and continuos documentation and evaluation process - meta Polygon:

"Rijeka is the Capital of Croatia, and Hong Kong of Europe" - the work is dedicated to the city of Rijeka, futurism and topics through which we process correlations between city as a capital, community and therritory, observing tools of the the power trends and its centralism by analyzing the character of the urban syntax and narrative of the city in correlation to European and global context - travelogue Tacchi Alti / High Heels. This work in progress is theoretical and performative visual practice based on community interaction.

"From the Nucleus to the Fireworks" - an art-research of (mega)Structures vs. Organisms. As a foundation for this work we will use visualisation of the Unated Nations organisation structure, and through work we will try to learn basics geometric bodies, and antropologycal meaning of the circuit dancing - kolo dancing.

"Symbiosis of the sea anemone and hermit crab" - a meta-study in the background, documentation and evaluation process. After 15 years, Polygon as an organisation structure shifting it's own shape due to the Croatian NGO scene circumstances and trends. Beside questioning own capacity and range of our programme practice we will observe the mutual influence of this unlike organisation symbiosis , and possible outcomes in a form of persistent mutualism, commensalistic, and/or parasitic relationship between institutional domicile provider and the NGO status. We believe that some form of persistent mutualism will be maintained.

Art-research process involves collaboration with individuals and/or institutions, temporary art performances, live act, open studio activities such as "Reading and observation room". Due to the documentation process and interactions with participants all information will be published through different social media, as well as several fanzine publications. Some parts of the work will be presented as a potential cllaboration and/or co-production model.

Note: Please take in consideration the fact that this is art-research based work and process and that is the format we opening for you to participate in which is different from usual artistic formats of production. We are not able predict the carracter of our meeting and in that sence we claim artistic right to change our minds, and/or change direction of the programm. The process will be documented and materials will be used in further process and for different art-research purposes. Your participation is on volontarely based.

POLYGON gathers artists, social researchers, cultural workers, citizens. We consider art as avant-guard of some new social and/or scientific innovation, which directly, in critical and subversive way, influencing social plastic and formatting perception by "writing" it directly in the "code" of society narratives. Polygon was created in 1999 as a protest gesture in relation to the dominant art and cultural scene. Polygon mission is connected with professional activities, work and attitudes of each individual involved in the process, and their choices solely based on ideas, values and critical position of contemporary cultural and artistic practices.
