Moreno Solinas & Igor Urzelai

Igor x Moreno is the name under which the works created by choreographers Igor Urzelai and Moreno Solinas – in collaboration with an extended group of artists – are presented. 

Igor x Moreno’s works stem from a fascination for people and what makes us such special animals. They use choreography and mostly non-verbal languages to create experiences which can surprise, energise and unsettle. Their works – highly constructed whilst deeply concerned with liveness – visit and escape different genres and styles.

Igor x Moreno’s creative processes favour questions over answers, action over narration, communication over expression, alterity over diversity, patience over productivity. They don’t see entertainment as their duty, but as a useful communication tool. They work with rigour and playfulness. They value pointlessness.  

Moreno Solinas and Igor Urzelai are affiliate artists of The Place (London). Their work is currently produced in Sardinia by S’ALA.

Karrasekare

20.-31.08.2023.

In Karrasekare we attempt to remove the flesh from human behaviour. The work presents humans as idiosyncratic and cultured beings, while trying not to forget that we are all little more than instinctive animals fleshed out in human form.

Karrasekare is inspired by pagan carnival traditions from Sardinia and the Basque Country. Raw and surprising, sweaty yet elegant, it explores the catharsis of communal ritual and traditions. Channeling the energy of these carnival traditions, the work is filled with the excitement of being together and rubs against our sense of decency and prudishness.

Karrasekare will premiere on 4 and 5 November 2023 at Romaeuropa Festival at Teatro Vascello in Rome.

Croatian Cultural Centre in Sušak (HKD)

HKD is a public cultural institution that hosts numerous cultural, educational and entertainment programs throughout the year with dance, drama, music, film and multimedia activities, as well as visual arts in the Kortil Gallery. Kortil has been operating as an exhibition space since 1997, with exhibition program open to contemporary domestic and foreign artists, applied art, for exhibitions of artists who marked the art of the 20th century, but at the same time for young authors who are just entering the art scene.  

HKD hosts educational programs with dance, drama and music workshops and training for children and young people. It also implements community programs such as Kortil live and has its own volunteering program.

HKD is a member of the European dance networks Aerowaves and Pan-Adria and the music/organizational network MOST Music.
