  Marina Rajšić (1995, Rijeka) is an artist and visual communications designer. She graduated in visual communications and graphic design from the Rijeka Academy of Applied Arts in 2019.  In December 2018, she published an artist book entitled The Art of the Beautiful, for which she was given the University of Rijeka Rector's Award. She was a finalist for the Radoslav Putar Award 2022, which is part of the international network YVAA – Young Visual Artists Awards. Since 2015 Rajšić has shown her work in solo exhibitions (selection: Printscreen, Filodrammatica Gallery Rijeka – Drugo more, 2021; Lipa Particles, PPMPH Rijeka, 2021; Special Occasion, Labin City Gallery, 2022) and group exhibitions (selection: Workshope online, online exhibition MMSU Rijeka, 2020; Seven Faces of the City, Kortil Rijeka Gallery, 2021; Radoslav Putar Award finale, Salon Galić, Split, 2022, 14th Triennial of Croatian Sculpture, Meštrović Pavilion (HDLU), Zagreb, 2022).

  In the thick of the 2022 World Cup, artist Marina Rajšić has decided to explore the relationship between nationalism and football, as part of her artist residency in Rijeka. In this process, Rajšić sees football as an ideological means of building a national identity, i.e. as a ritual practice by which identity is developed and reproduced. She is interested in the symbolism attributed to football in the media depictions of fans, and football as a field where politics and sports, private and public interests, and conservative and market values are interrelated. Rajšić begins her research on the sociological and cultural aspects of football, as well as the politicization of football, by consulting professional literature (Dario Brentin, Ozren Biti, Peter Pericles Trifonas) and following the material and discourse produced by media during the football championship.

  MMSU in Rijeka founded in 1948, in its long tradition offers a committed support to innovative ways of approaching, producing and presenting art. From its very beginning the Museum has been building reputation of one of the most prominent visual art institutions in Croatia, entrusted with presentation of Croatian artists at prestigious international art events such as: Venice Biennial 1962, 1997, 2007, 2010, Sao Paolo Biennial 1967, 2004 etc. 

  The Museum rounds its programming around visual art education, parallel to different modes of exhibition concepts that address new discursive possibilities and transform it into a place of inspiration, idea exchange and active participation. Under the motto openness, creativity & engagement, together with artistic, cultural and community organizations, Museum furthers visual arts research, collaboration and exchange within the region and internationally, while aspiring to reach increasingly diverse audiences and to work in a close relationship with the community.

  Museum’s collection offers a diverse range of artistic visions with over 8,000 artworks dated from the end of the 19^th century to the present day. From 2017 Museum is located at new address, Krešimirova 26c, in ex-industrial complex Rikard Benčić. Since then, some important exhibitions were organized at MMSU in the framework of the pre-program and program of Rijeka 2020 - European Capital of Culture, i.e. Tomislav Gotovac: Crisis Anticipator - Don't Ask Where We're Going (2017), Vlado Martek: Exhibition with Many Titles and Goran Petercol: Don't Worry About Poetics, They Will Arrive on Their Own in 2019 and David Maljković: With the Collection in 2020..
