Jelena Pervan
Jelena Pervan (1992) was born in Split, lives and works in Zagreb. She is children’s writer and storyteller. Jelena has 13 published children’s books, and some of them are translated and published abroad.
Her story Mrljek i Prljek is adapted into puppet show at Gradsko kazalište lutaka Rijeka (puppet theatre in Rijeka), and some of her stories are adapted into radio plays.
She is founder and creative director of Kuća od priča ( “Story house”) where she works with children and teaches them creative writing and storytelling. https://kucaodprica.com/
She promotes reading and storytelling at interactive literary workshops with children in libraries, schools, kindergartens, and rehabilitation institutions.
Working with children and young people with disabilities is very special part of her mission. She believes that every child deserves to hear, see, feel, and enjoy a great story, so in 2012. Jelena started telling stories to children with various disabilities. She discovered the world of sensory storytelling and fell in love with it.
When she doesn’t write or hang out on creative workshops with children, Jelena translates children’s books from various languages and writes for several children’s magazines. Children inspire her and she thinks that they are the best audience.
She is a member of Hrvatsko društvo književnika za djecu i mlade (Croatian Society of Writers for Children and Youth). She enjoys life, food, interesting people, animals, and great stories.
