Ivan Hrkaš

Ivan Hrkaš was born in Sarajevo in 1978. After completing elementary school, he moved to Israel. While enrolled in the prestigious Academy of Fine Arts "Bezalel" in Jerusalem, in 1998 he returned to Sarajevo and enrolled at the Academy of Fine Arts, the direction of graphic design, from which he graduated in 2004 with master’s degree in the field of photography. There he is also a lecturer on the subjects Basics of  Photography and Photography since 2005. Since May 2012, he has taught as a visiting professor at the College of Design in Ljubljana (Slovenia).

During the last five years he is engaged in sociological photography which is also the topic of his master’s degree. He has exhibited in Bosnia and Herzegovina, Austria, Montenegro, Tunisia, Slovenia, Serbia, United Kingdom, Israel, Mexico, USA, and won awards at numerous festivals. He published graphic works and photos in local and international journals. He worked in the organization of the Festival "Sarajevska zima" and participated in various local and international projects in the field of culture and arts.

The Beach No. 3

Kamov residence provides an excellent platform for the realization of the project “Plaža broj 3” ("Beach No. 3"). “Plaža broj 3” is a photographic research project which is based on the impressions and the narrative framework of the eponymous location. After visiting Rijeka and the Beach No. 3 for the first time in August 2014, Ivan Hrkaš was inspired by the space (environment and the position), the people, people’s faces, gestures and stories, so he decided to return to the location and document it.

Also, Kamov residence provides the possibility for the collaboration with two young graphic designers from Rijeka - Ana Tomić and Marin Krstačić Furić. The idea for the collaboration with this designer duo was conceived after an introduction to their multi-layered, innovative and fresh approach to graphic design, with a focus on the book. Thus, the search for the forms of presentation of the photography as a photographic research, in collaboration with designers, would this time go in the direction of the deconstructing the form of photographic book, which would propose a new relation between photography and the observer.

Upon completion of the residency, the author will give a public talk where he will present the preliminary results of the project in the form of the smaller exhibition, or slide projection, and also he will present his future plans for the finalization of the project.

Artists run-space Delta 5 gathers a group of artists on the location of an ex industrial complex in Rijeka.
The space of Delta 5 is divided into a number of ateliers/studios and one project room which is used for presentation, production and social purposes of the members and associates of the organisation.
The artists of Delta 5 share their interest in the field of production and promotion of contemporary art, design, their critical reflection and reception in public.

Members of Delta 5 are Milijana Babić, Tomislav Brajnović, Nemanja Cvijanović, Igor Eškinja, Fokus Grupa, mkfandat (Ana Tomić & Marino Krstačić Furić) and Sanja Stojković.
