Folklore Ensemble Tempet

Folklore Ensemble Tempet from Makarska was established in March 2004. Ever since its establishment, the Ensemble has been a successful association of citizens whose main activities include encouragement, development, preservation, and improvement of cultural and folklore heritage. The Ensemble was named after the dance from the old town of Makarska. 

In Rijeka, they will introduce their female vocal group that performs folk songs and melodies from all parts of Croatia.

Porto Etno Festival

Porto Etno is an international festival of world music and gastronomy that has been held in Rijeka since 2017.

The Festival aims to promote multiculturalism, diversity and tolerance through music and gastronomy. 

The Festival is based on the 20 years of tradition of the Etno smotra manifestation, which was held in Rijeka with the aim of presenting the culture of national minorities active in the City and the County. The manifestation was redesigned and renamed to Porto Etno as part of the Rijeka 2020 – European Capital of Culture. Since 2020 the new festival has been organised by the Croatian Cultural Centre Sušak (HKD).

Over the past six years, performers from all over the world have performed at the festival. Some of them are: Božo Vrećo, Amira Medunjanin, Braća Teofilović, Boban Marković, Iva Bittová, Vasil Hadžimanov, Lado Electro, Baba Zula, Dunja Knebl, Acid Arab, Saba Anglana, Karandila Gypsy Brass Orchestra, Denise Dantas, Nina Kraljić, Divanhana, Bandanera Afrobeat, Arakne Group, Maya Kamaty, Ketekalles, N.O.H.A., Tamara Obrovac, etc.

In addition to the concert programme, the Porto Etno Festival is known for its special gastronomic and folklore programme presenting the associations of national minorities. Every year over 100 performers and cooks participate in the Festival, and around 2,000 visitors enjoy their programmes.

Croatian Cultural Centre in Sušak (HKD)

HKD is a public cultural institution that hosts numerous cultural, educational and entertainment programs throughout the year with dance, drama, music, film and multimedia activities, as well as visual arts in the Kortil Gallery. Kortil has been operating as an exhibition space since 1997, with exhibition program open to contemporary domestic and foreign artists, applied art, for exhibitions of artists who marked the art of the 20th century, but at the same time for young authors who are just entering the art scene.  

HKD hosts educational programs with dance, drama and music workshops and training for children and young people. It also implements community programs such as Kortil live and has its own volunteering program.

HKD is a member of the European dance networks Aerowaves and Pan-Adria and the music/organizational network MOST Music.
