  Dejan Kaludjerović was born in Belgrade, Yugoslavia. He studied at the Academy of Applied Arts in Vienna in the class of Erwin Wurm and gained an MA in visual arts at the Academy of Fine Arts in Belgrade in 2004. For his achievements in visual arts, Kaludjerović was granted in 2010 an honorable Austrian citizenship. In 2017 Kaludjerović co-founded a Vienna based arts and cultural organization Verein K. From 2023 – 2025 he serves as a member of the advisory board of the KUNSTHALLE EXNERGASSE Vienna. He has exhibited internationally at numerous solo and group shows in Europe, USA, South America, Australia, Africa and Asia.

Winner of 55th October Salon Award, Belgrade, 2014. Winner of Sazmanab Contemporary Art Center Residency, Teheran, Iran for 2015 and YARAT Residency, Baku, Azerbaijan for 2014. Winner of Atelier Tokyo for 2011 (Studio and traveling fellowship of 6 months provided by BMUKK). Winner of the CEC ARTSINK Scholarship for 2008, which included a residency at the Santa Monica 18th Street Art Center in the USA as well as the Unidee residency in Cittadellarte – Fondazione Pistoletto, Italy in 2005, and a three-month Kultur Kontakt Austria residency in Vienna in 2002.

   He is living and working in Vienna.

• Conversations

  Dejan Kaludjerović has been staying in Rijeka working on the production of the new work within the Conversations series. It is an artistic research-based project that started in 2013 and stems from the interviews with children aged 6-10. So far, the artist has interviewed over 50 children from various socio-economic and cultural backgrounds in 8 countries using a set of simple yet provocative questions. Each set of interviews took place in the context of artist residencies that the artist held in Ukraine, Russia, Azerbaijan, Israel, Iran, Slovenia and his “home countries” of Austria and Serbia. These interviews are exhibited as site-specific sound installations in which convesations are made through editing of the material. Each "Conversation" turns into a litmus test of the society and time in which it was created, highlighting the issues of exclusion and inclusion, foreigners, language, colonization, war, money, povertywhere it was created at the time of creation.Sound installations are accompanied by objects made for each original context of the different versions of "Conversations".

  MMSU in Rijeka founded in 1948, in its long tradition offers a committed support to innovative ways of approaching, producing and presenting art. From its very beginning the Museum has been building reputation of one of the most prominent visual art institutions in Croatia, entrusted with presentation of Croatian artists at prestigious international art events such as: Venice Biennial 1962, 1997, 2007, 2010, Sao Paolo Biennial 1967, 2004 etc. 

  The Museum rounds its programming around visual art education, parallel to different modes of exhibition concepts that address new discursive possibilities and transform it into a place of inspiration, idea exchange and active participation. Under the motto openness, creativity & engagement, together with artistic, cultural and community organizations, Museum furthers visual arts research, collaboration and exchange within the region and internationally, while aspiring to reach increasingly diverse audiences and to work in a close relationship with the community.

  Museum’s collection offers a diverse range of artistic visions with over 8,000 artworks dated from the end of the 19^th century to the present day. From 2017 Museum is located at new address, Krešimirova 26c, in ex-industrial complex Rikard Benčić. Since then, some important exhibitions were organized at MMSU in the framework of the pre-program and program of Rijeka 2020 - European Capital of Culture, i.e. Tomislav Gotovac: Crisis Anticipator - Don't Ask Where We're Going (2017), Vlado Martek: Exhibition with Many Titles and Goran Petercol: Don't Worry About Poetics, They Will Arrive on Their Own in 2019 and David Maljković: With the Collection in 2020..
